Hojicha
Also known as Hōjicha, Roasted green tea
Roasted Japanese green tea. Sencha, bancha or tea stems are roasted at high heat, which turns the leaves reddish brown. The tea brews into a clear, reddish cup with a nutty scent, and roasting lowers its caffeine. Today hojicha is also sold as a powder for milk drinks such as hojicha lattes.
