Dong Ding Oolong
Also known as Dong Ding, Dongding, Tung Ting
Oolong from the Dong Ding mountain area near Lugu in Nantou, made from the Qingxin Oolong tea plant. The name means "frozen summit". The leaves are rolled into tight, round balls and have a clear roasted character. Today the same style is made elsewhere in Taiwan, so a good label says where the tea was grown.
Taste
Smooth, round and sweet, with a roasted note and a golden cup
How to brew
Brew with hot water. It can be steeped several times, and each infusion tastes a little different.
Cultural background
The tea plants are said to have come from the Wuyi Mountains in Fujian about 150 years ago, brought back by the scholar Lin Fengchi; Taiwanese accounts date this to 1855.
Where to drink it
